Marine Technician

This role will suit marine mechanic, auto electrician, motor mechanic, boat fitter.

Working in the fit-out department at Townsville Marine you will be fitting out aluminium and fibreglass trailer boat packages. You will be part of the fit-out team and technical team who are responsible for installation, wiring, plumbing, and fitting of outboard motors and all accessories to boat packages. 

To work in this area, you will have experience using hand tools. You may have experience fitting automotive accessories or caravan fit out or in another environment that has required good hand fitting and assembly skills. You will be a person who enjoys a variety of tasks and has an eye for detail. 

The successful candidate will be trained as they learn the various tasks.  

Some typical tasks you may carry out in the fit-out department:

  • Fitting outboard motors
  • Fitting wiring looms, lighting, and electrical accessories in boats
  • Fitting plumbing, hoses, pumps 
  • Fitting marine electronics
  • Fitting seating 
  • Boat trailer adjustments

Essential Requirements 

  • You will be physically fit and able to step in and out of boats.
  • You will be dependable and reliable.
  • You will be able to communicate well with others.
  • Your resume will show a work history that demonstrates a good work ethic in your previous roles.
  • You will have a car driver’s licence and a boat licence. If you don’t have a boat licence, you will need to get one within 3 months of starting.

Mechanical

In addition to the tasks above, if you are a marine technician you will be expected to service new and used outboards and undertake all of the tasks and responsibilities of your trade.

If you are a motor mechanic, additional training will be provided so that you can service marine engines.
