The Sales Person - Trainee is an entry level role designed to learn our products, customers and sales process while supporting the sales team to ensure exceptional service to our customers.
This role works closely with experienced sales professionals and the sales support team, with a focus on building the skills needed to take responsibility for the sales process from initial enquiry through to handover of the product.
The successful Sales Trainee must recognize that business is built on long term customer satisfaction and be committed to exceeding each customer’s expectations.
Work with quality marine brands (including Yamaha, Bar Crusher, Cruise Craft, Formosa Boats, Sea Jay Boats, Hooker Boats, Stabicraft, Flagship Destroyer Boats, Garmin marine accessories) and pre-owned boats.
Requirements
Ability to work Monday – Friday (8:30am – 5:00pm). Saturday mornings available 8:30am – 11:30am.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and able to learn new software quickly.
Strong interest in developing sales skills
Prior customer facing experience (retail sales, hospitality or customer service role) an advantage.
Prior experience and knowledge of boating and safety.
Valid driver’s license (essential) and boat license, forklift license (or willingness to obtain).
Essential duties and responsibilities
Learn Townsville Marine’s products, systems and sales process through hands-on training
Greeting and engaging with walk in customers, phone enquiries, and online enquiries. Develop relationships with customers by understanding their needs.
Acquire an understanding of the products being offered including boat brands, models, features and accessories.
Support the sales process from start to finish including customer follow-ups, boat handovers, preparing quotes consistent with sales targets and customer satisfaction goals.
Maintain accurate records of customer communications, follow ups and sales activity in the company systems.
Maintain boats to showroom standard (must be physically agile).

Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with customers.

Naturally outgoing and well-spoken individual who thrives in human interaction with customers in the showroom, on phone calls, texts and email.
Organised and detail oriented, and able to manage follow ups consistently.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Positive customer-oriented attitude.
